If you're a fan of both baseball and brain teasers, Batter Up is the perfect game for you. This MLB-themed guessing game challenges your sports knowledge and deduction skills as you try to identify a mystery player using only a silhouette and a few color-coded clues. Think of it as Wordle for baseball lovers—fast-paced, fun, and surprisingly addictive.

How to Play Batter Up

The objective is simple: guess the mystery MLB player in 6 tries or less. But there’s a twist—it’s based on active players only, and the only initial clue is their silhouette. After each guess, tiles provide helpful hints by changing colors:

  • GREEN: Perfect match for that characteristic.

  • WHITE: No match at all.

  • YELLOW: Partial match or close enough—here’s how it breaks down:

    • Team & Division: Yellow in Division means same league (NL or AL), different division.

    • Age: Yellow = within 2 years of the mystery player.

    • Jersey Number: Yellow = same tens digit (e.g., #13 & #19).

    • Position: Yellow = same category (Infielder or Outfielder), but not the exact position.

Winning Tips

  • Start Broad: Use a well-known, versatile player for your first guess to get a range of color feedback.

  • Use League Knowledge: Narrow down divisions and teams by recognizing league-level matches early on.

  • Think Positionally: If you hit yellow on "Position," consider whether the mystery player might be another infielder or outfielder—not just the same base.

  • Age Matters: A yellow Age clue is your best friend—use it to eliminate whole swaths of players.

  • Keep Guessing Smart: Don’t just guess your favorite players. Use each clue strategically to inform your next move.
